Sake
I know wine, but not much about sake. Is this shop for me?
I know wine, but not much about sake. Is this shop for me?
Yes — it's built for exactly that. If you can taste acidity, texture and balance in a wine, you already have what you need. I use wine as the doorway and let sake become the focus.
Do I need to like Japanese food to enjoy sake?
Do I need to like Japanese food to enjoy sake?
Not at all. Sake belongs next to the food you already eat — cheese, charcuterie, roast vegetables, spice, pasta, even a good burger. Start with one bottle and one dish you already love.
What's the simplest way to understand the difference between sake and wine?
What's the simplest way to understand the difference between sake and wine?
Wine is made from fruit; sake is brewed from rice, closer in method to beer but closer in spirit to wine. The useful part for you: sake tends to be lower in acidity and rich in umami, which lets it pair with foods that often fight with wine.
How should I serve and store it?
How should I serve and store it?
Sake changes with temperature even more than wine does — half the fun. Ginjō and sparkling styles: serve well chilled. Junmai, honjōzō, aged and yamahai styles: chilled, at cool room temperature, or gently warmed. Store bottles cool, dark and upright, and drink them young. Once open, reseal, refrigerate, and finish within two weeks — about a week for delicate ginjō. Each product page tells you what that bottle prefers.
Can I give sake as a gift?
Can I give sake as a gift?
Yes — our Curated Pairs and Party Sets are made to be given. They arrive ready to bring to someone's table, with a clear reason behind each bottle.
Are your bottles stored properly before they reach me?
Are your bottles stored properly before they reach me?
Yes. Everything is imported and kept under proper cool, dark conditions by a specialist Dutch importer, so the sake reaches you in the condition the brewery intended.
Does sake contain sulfites?
Does sake contain sulfites?
Sake is brewed from just rice, water, kōji and yeast, with no added sulfites — something many wine drinkers are glad to hear. If you have a specific allergy, the product page lists the details, or write to me.

I'm sorry — that shouldn't happen, but bottles travel. Please keep the original packaging until it's sorted.

Can I return an order if I change my mind?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to cancel, as long as the bottle is unopened and the seal is intact — for an alcoholic product we can't take back an opened bottle. Return shipping is at your own cost [approx. €7.25], and once the bottle is back with us we refund the order in full within 14 days.
